Michelle Gaza
In 2004 Michelle returned to Chicago after practicing Astanga Yoga overseas for four years. She studied in Mysore, South India with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and practiced with certified and authorized teachers in India, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. She has also studied in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
In addition, Michelle spent two years as an apprentice to an Aboriginal shaman in Australia. During that time, as she worked to integrate her yoga experience with an even more ancient source of wisdom, she was excited to see parallels between these experiences and the findings of modern physics--a science which seems to be catching up with the wisdom of the ancients regarding the nature of consciousness and the universe.
Upon returning to Chicago she taught at several schools, including Moksha Yoga Center, 3 Pillars Wellness, Core Studio, and her own school, Higher Vibration Yoga.
Prior to her travels, Michelle taught yoga in New York City and Chicago. She completed her teacher-training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago in 1998 and also holds a degree in Psychology from Yale University.
In May 2009, Michelle completed the Level One Training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (www.selfleadership.org) which is a model that has allowed her to bring all of this wisdom together in a cohesive, teachable way. She is currently enrolled in the Level Two Training.
In addition to teaching yoga, Michelle is working on several writing projects, including a screenplay and a book of essays.
